Donate to Pinnacle

Pinnacle School, Pinnacle Learning Services, and the Pinnacle Testing Center are operated by the dePaul Reading and Learning Association, Inc. Contributions and gifts, including in-kind items and services, are always greatly appreciated.  We rely on the generosity of our friends, families, alumni and other supporters through our Annual Fund solicitation and other development initiatives.  (Note that the information presented here is not intended as legal advice.  Please contact your financial advisor.)  For more information, or to discuss your particular giving interests, please contact Denise Lessow, Executive Director at (812) 339-8141 or [email protected]

Capital Campaign

Pinnacle operates a number of community initiatives and programs that benefit students and their families throughout south central Indiana.  The Capital Campaign provides an opportunity for generous donors who believe in education to make a lasting contribution.  If you are interested in naming opportunities for rooms and other dedicated spaces in the facility, or in contributing to the lead gifts or community phases of our Capital Campaign, please contact Denise Lessow.  We need sponsors for rooms, as well as computers, science equipment, and robotics materials.

Student Scholarship Fund

We know of deserving students who are struggling with dyslexia and need the services of Pinnacle School, or would benefit from tutoring through Pinnacle Learning Services, but simply can’t afford the tuition.  We are making it a priority to establish a Student Scholarship Fund that will be used to grant partial, or in some cases full, scholarships to students based on their financial need.  Donors may also choose to provide support for a particular student, or to create a named fund or memorial scholarship in honor of a loved one.

We are happy to announce three opportunities for you to give a student with a learning difference and insufficient financial means the chance for a Pinnacle Education.

  1. Make a donation to the new Connie Giles Scholarship Fund at Pinnacle. This is established in honor of Mrs. Giles, who has taught students with dyslexia at Pinnacle for 34 years. Your donation should be made out to “Pinnacle School” with “Connie Giles Scholarship Fund” in the memo, and submitted directly to Pinnacle, 2182 W Industrial Park Drive, Bloomington, Indiana, 47404. Scholarship funds will be used to support a student at the elementary level. (NAP credits are available to donors for this fund.)

  1. Make a donation to the Pinnacle Fund held and managed by the Sagamore Institute. Donations should be made out to “Sagamore Institute” with “Pinnacle School” in the memo, and given directly to Pinnacle so we can attach the donation form for your state tax credit. The Pinnacle Fund supports tuition for students of any age with financial need to attend Pinnacle.

  1. The  Dyslexia Fund: Managed by the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County. Your contribution remains in the fund, and investment income from this Fund is distributed to Pinnacle for scholarships once a year. Donations are made directly to the Community Foundation, who will notify us of your gift.

Pinnacle School is a non-profit 501 ( c ) 3 organization; all gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult with a financial advisor for any questions related to your tax status.

Please contact Dr. Lessow, [email protected] or 812-339-8141 for questions or more information about any of these 3 opportunities to invest in the life of a child. Thank you!

Operating Support

Operating and Program Support are always welcome.  Please call to discuss any particular interests.

Pinnacle is grateful for…

Cash gifts, checks, and contributions via VISA and MasterCard: A cash gift entitles the donor to an income tax deduction in the year of the gift.

Securities: Appreciated securities are an excellent form of asset to use in making a charitable gift. In most cases, an outright gift of securities that has increased in value entitles the donor to an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities and the avoidance of capital gains tax.

Bequests:  A donor may include a bequest to the school in his or her estate plan. Bequests may be for a specific amount, a percentage of the donor’s estate, or even a residual portion.

Real Estate:  A donor may contribute various types of real property or a fractional interest in property to Pinnacle. Such real estate may be a personal or recreational home, farm, commercial building, or undeveloped property. Real estate gifts offer the donor a variety of tax benefits and the school welcomes conversation with donors in anticipation of such gifts to help them best achieve their goals.

Tangible Personal Property: Donors contemplating giving a tangible asset such as a work of art or vehicle to Pinnacle need to contact the Director before completing the gift. If the asset is accepted by the school and used in its educational program, the donor receives a charitable deduction equal to the asset’s full fair market value. However, if the asset is not used, the donor’s charitable deduction is limited to his or her cost basis.

Insurance:  A donor may contribute an existing life insurance policy that is no longer needed or he or she may designate Pinnacle the owner and beneficiary of a new policy. In either case, the value of the existing policy (or the donor’s investment, if less) or the donor’s gift to Pinnacle to cover annual premiums are fully deductible as charitable contributions.

Remainder Gift: Through the remainder gift, a donor may contribute assets such as securities or real estate to Pinnacle and retain for life the income from those assets for him or herself, his or her spouse, or both. A remainder gift permits the donor to take an income tax deduction for the charitable portion of the value of the gift. In addition, if the gift is in the form of appreciated securities or real estate, the donor may not pay capital gains tax on the appreciation.
