Dr. Lessow named
2008 Kiesling Award Winner
The Community Justice and Mediation Center
named Dr. Denise Lessow, Director of Pinnacle School in Bloomington, as
the 2008 winner of the Herb Kiesling Award. Lessow was honored at the
CJAM Annual Dinner on April 21.
According to CJAM, "Herb Kiesling's passion
was that every child and young person would have an equal opportunity to
develop his/her talents. He focused much of his work on activities that
would remove the 'risk' for at-risk children in school."
Dr. Lessow commented, "I appreciate the
recognition of our work at Pinnacle to ensure that all students have an
opportunity to build on their strengths and enjoy success. This award is
a testament to our faculty, staff, and students -- and to everyone in
this community who values education and ensuring that children have the
support to learn. It is an honor to receive an award named after Herb,
who was a champion of young people. Last spring, his wife Iris and her
fellow County Commissioners proclaimed Pinnacle School Day in honor of
our 25th anniversary."
