Dr. Denise LessowThank you for considering Pinnacle. The Pinnacle approach to learning is focused on student achievement for individuals with dyslexia from Kindergarten through College in all areas, including academics, cultural activities, decision-making, social skills, lifetime fitness, and leadership.  All programs and services seek to prepare students to navigate and conquer whatever obstacles they may face in life.  Pinnacle staff are caring and focus on helping students learn, innovate, and succeed.

Pinnacle School takes pride in creating the optimal learning environment for our students, and understands that each student learns differently.  Since opening its doors in 1981, Pinnacle has been an independent, nonprofit school that specializes in serving students with dyslexia and similar bright out-of-the-box thinkers.  Pinnacle is a provisional member of ISACS, the Independent Schools Association of the Central States, and is recognized by the Indiana Department of Education. Our caring and expert staff are proud to serve students and families throughout Southern Indiana at our Bloomington campus, and more widely through our tutoring and collaborative partnerships with MCCSC and other outreach programs and services focused on dyslexia. 

 Pinnacle offers a variety of programs, including a full-time 3 – 8 STEM School program, hybrid high school, tutoring services, diagnostic testing, summer academy, and online e-tutoring. The techniques used at Pinnacle are based on current research about the brain and how we learn best. With the use of technology like interactive classroom SMARTboards, computer labs, and the ability to access some desktop applications at home, we are able to provide our students with the visual tools that help them succeed.  We build from each student’s strengths with an emphasis on individual mastery.  

We are proud that almost 95% of our students in grades 3 – 8 between 2009 and 2014 passed the state standardized tests for language arts.  Students with dyslexia who complete the recommended sequence in our full-time school program make significant gains while at Pinnacle. These students have also been able to maintain a successful status and GPA when transferring into other schools.   A recent study by the Kauffman Foundation found that 33% of successful entrepreneurs are dyslexic or have ADD or ADHD.
